Home Remodeling

The recent economic downturn has brought the price of homes down significantly. With tumbling home prices the number of regular home sales has also gone down dramatically as people either do not want to sell at such depressed prices or they simply cannot afford to as a result of the fact their mortgage has a higher balance than their homes are worth. At the same time contractors in the housing sector are out of work and desperate to pick up jobs. This means if you are a homeowner and you cannot sell your existing home but are looking for something new you can spruce up your existing home to make it feel like a new home. A complete home remodeling project is just the way to get there and with various home improvement projects you can stretch out the useful life of your home. This will not only allow you to get a higher price for the home in the future but it will also allow you to feel like you are living in a new home. Prices for home remodeling projects vary dramatically and so you will need to consider your budget first off when deciding what to do.

S.W. Scheipeter Construction won the Professional’s Choice Award. It won on the basis of overall workmanship. The award was given out by the St. Louis homebuilders association. This award was created for the sole purpose of those who want to be judged by professional inspectors. There are strict guidelines set for by the association that each of the competitors must follow. The owner of S.W. Scheipeter Construction spoke about another high honor that his company received. It was just reported that ninety eight percent of customers would refer them to another. The project that won the contest was a lower level finish that included a number of modern things that included a pool table and a bar. They are a true testament to hard work and dedication.

LAWFUL HOME IMPROVEMENT

Whenever we take up any task or hand over any task to somebody, we must make sure that what we are doing is purely legal and has government approval, especially if it happens to fall under the purview of state law. Any transgression in this aspect could cause avoidable embarrassment to us as well as waste the time of law makers.

The county Legislator Ed Day of Rockland New City has suggested a new law which would be put up for review when the Legislature assembles shortly in New City. The law is being given final touches and there will also be a public opinion gathered prior to voting session. The law, if approved and brought into force, would empower the county Office of Consumer Protection as also local police seize the implements and vehicles of such operators who are unlicensed and yet carry on the works of home improvement. Ed day has asserted the law would be used against all offenders scrupulously, especially those who perpetrate such acts in spite of repeated warnings. Country Consumer Protection director Terry Grosselfinger has also asserted that the law would be applied uniformly to all offenders who would brazenly commit the blunder ignoring the law. This law would also empower the authorities to impound the trucks used in home improvement tasks, even if they did not belong to the offenders and would remain so until the damages were paid by the real owners and a signed assurance obtained from them stating that they would not be a party to such offence, by lending their trucks to unlicensed contractors.

Such licenses would help to regularize the works of contractors comprising carpenters, painters, roofers, swimming pool installers, etc. By paying a nominal license fee of $650, they can escape paying high damages when caught doing illegally. Other than ensuring that these contractors obtain an authorized license, the law would also be in a position to look into complaints against roving and unauthorized workers.

Recently I set out to upgrade our kitchen and went through the normal gutting and rebuilding of the space. We spent thousands on new materials and spent time picking and choosing them to get just the right feel for our kitchen.

After lots of work and effort, I have to admit that our completed project was just not quite ‘doing it’ for me. Something wasn’t right, but it wasn’t until a contractor friend stopped by and suggested that we add under cabinet lighting to the area that the light bulb went off…

We added some high quality under cabinet light fixtures to the kitchen and it made all the difference in the mood of the room.

Best purchase we made for our remodel…

Minnesota_Slinger asked:

Recently, I just replaced the door handles and locks on our house. The locks were still in great condition, but since we recently bought the house, it was necessary to change the locks. Although I no longer have use for the locks, I don’t want to simply throw them in the trash, given that together they are several pounds of good metal. And as I do more home improvements in the future, I imagine I’ll be replacing a fair amount of items that are obsolete yet contain good material. But as far as I know, the weekly recycling bin is just for aluminum cans, newspaper, glass bottles, etc., not for doorknobs and that sort of thing. How can I get rid of this sort of stuff so that it can be recycled somehow rather than just thrown into a landfill?

If you have recently updated or overhauled your kitchen, you realize what an exciting accomplishment that is. I’m sure you are enjoying preparing meals for your family and entertaining in your new space. The upgrade to your home is well worth the expense in many ways.

One thing that sometimes gets left out of a good remodeling effort is the attention given to selecting quality under cabinet lighting that should accompany your remodel. Often times, people forget what a dramatic impact such fluorescent lighting can have on the ambience and mood of your kitchen.

I highly recommend Brodwax.com for this lighting as they have been providing quality for many, many decades.
